A group of examinees protested in front of Rajshahi Education Board demanding postponement of HSC exams due to sudden increase in coronavirus infections in the country. Students protested at the main gate of the board from 12 noon to 2 pm today, Tuesday.
As part of the protest, the students blocked the road in front of Rajshahi Education Board for about half an hour. This temporarily stopped traffic on the road. However, ambulances and other emergency service vehicles were allowed to ply.
The protesting students said that the infection of coronavirus is on the rise again. Many students and their family members have already been infected. In this situation, they are not able to prepare. If the exams are held now, the physical and mental health of the students will be threatened. The students called for a reasonable schedule to be finalized by postponing the exams until the Corona situation stabilizes.
Later, a six-member delegation of students exchanged views with the chairman of the Rajshahi Education Board. During the exchange of views, the students were assured that the matter would be taken up seriously with the Ministry of Education. Apart from this, there is an important meeting on June 19. The issue of the students’ demands will be raised in that meeting. After receiving this assurance, the students ended the program. However, the students said that if no decision is made on the demands by June 19, they will go on a protest.
